    Book details

Could our deepest hurts reveal the key to a powerful form of prayer that was lost 17 centuries ago? What can we learn today, from the great secret of our most cherished traditions?

For more than 20 years, Gregg Braden, the best-selling author of The God Code, has searched for evidence of a forgotten form of prayer that was lost to the west following the Biblical edits of the early Christian Church. In the 1990's he found and documented this form of prayer still being used in the remote monasteries of central Tibet.

In Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer, Braden begins by describing this ancient form of prayer that has no words, or outward expressions. Then for the first time in print, he leads us on a journey exploring what our most intimate experiences tell us about our deepest beliefs.

New York Times bestselling author Gregg Braden has been a featured guest at international conferences and media specials, exploring the role of spirituality in technology. A former senior computer systems designer (Martin Marietta Aerospace), computer geologist (Phillips Petroleum), and technical operations supervisor (Cisco Systems), Braden is now considered a leading authority on bridging the wisdom of our past with the science, technology, and peace of our future.

Having read this precious little book twice I think I am ready to state it has to be the most meaningful metaphysical/spiritual book I have ever read. This book, for me, is stunning. Loaded with feeling, hope, comfort,inspiration..... it moves me very deeply. I am a Science of Mind student currently studying The Power of Your Word - and Gregg Braden demonstrates here that he truely deeply knows it. Ernest Holmes would be proud and punch. Wonderful job!!!! Impossible to beat I feel. Thank you so very much.

This book is a comprehensive manual on the application of concentrated thoughts and emotion and how to apply these to a whole host of situations.Gregg Braden demonstrates a complete and seemless understanding of the progression of all our emotions right from our very first thought all the way through to the release our intentions in the prayer form.

I, too, read this book after "The Divine Matrix". There is a certain amount of "overlap" between the two books, but each is complete in itself."Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer" really is an excellent book, and can be read by anyone with an open mind (& heart)... irrespective of religious or cultural background.Unfortunately, much has been lost (or hidden from us) over the years, and we are only just re-discovering what was "known" thousands of years ago.Gregg Braden does an excellent job of bringing us back to "basics" in this wonderful little book... highlighting the role of human emotions in the effectiveness of prayer... and the need to be in the right state of mind (ie preparation)... and to "feel" (amongst other things) that the prayer has already been answered. All I can say is: read the book, and try it for yourself; it could certainly change your life for the better (as well as countless others around you).

I like this book. As another reviewer says, it even feels good to hold it. The contents of the book are even better. I was intrigued by his main tenets, about blessing and beauty, I really think he is on to something. I loved the way he interwove personal accounts and experiential and academically rigourous research. He describes how we can heal and be healed, he affirms our own experiences and offers us a useful context to place them in. He traces these experiences through ancient mystical lit. I have a post-grad degree in Mysticism & Rel. Exp. but I was struck that we never focused on prayer as Gregg has done in this book. It is a valuable invitation to explore this area and certainly left me better informed, more aware, yet thirsting for more awareness of the intensly private, yet socially imperative power of the human prayer state. I was pleased he describes how the Mysticisim was edited from the Bible. By the end I would have prefered his book to be twice the length as it was finished, oh too soon. In all, I was glad to have made Gregg Braden's aquaintance, and will search out his other titles.
